Mexico advanced to the semi finals
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, June 6, 2007.-
Mexico earned its spot in the semi finals of the Men’s Volleyball
Pan American Cup with an easy victory in straight sets over Panama
on Wednesday.
The more experienced Mexicans only had difficulties in the second
set when they committed several errors before recovering. The
final score was 25-14, 26-24, 25-16.
Jose Martell and Juan Garcia each had 16 points as the main
weapons for Mexico and Irving Bricio added 11 tallies. Carlos
Zuniga with 10 points was the only Panamanian in double figures.
“I am very pleased with this victory,” said Carlos Novoa, the
Mexican coach. “We could recover from several errors in the second
set making the necessary adjustments.”
Jose Remon, the Panamanian coach, was a little disappointed with
some calls from the judges, but admitted the superiority of the
opponent.
